Autumn is our favorite season. We love the cool days, the warm colors, and most of all, the rich flavors the season’s harvest brings. Three of those flavors — pumpkin, apple, and pomegranate take center stage in this Halloween beer cocktail: Season of the Witch.
Southern Tier Pumking, an 8.6% ABV seasonal spiced ale, was the inspiration (base) for this beer cocktail. Its delicate pumpkin flavor is enhanced by caramel malt and subtle spicing, creating an authentic pumpkin pie taste that’s not overly sweet. Apple brandy adds a warming note, while sweet cider lends a familiar touch of autumn. Fresh pomegranate juice provides a slight tartness to balance things out, and gives this Halloween beer cocktail its deep orange “blood moon” hue. After all, it is the Season of the Witch!
- 2 ounces Laird's Applejack
- 2 ounces fresh cider, not hard cider
- 1 ounce fresh pomegranate juice
- 3 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
- 6 ounces Southern Tier Pumking
Add everything except the beer to a shaker with ice and shake until frosty.
Strain into a half pint glass, top with Pumking.
Stir gently and enjoy.
